Tunny Giving Cancer a Run for it’s Money!

On Friday 25th October despite heavy conditions under-foot, over 75 staff and students from High Tunstall College of Science assembled on the start line for a 5k run to raise money for Cancer Research UK and the inaugural High Tunstall Sports Awards.  Students have been fundraising over the past few weeks and it is hoped that over £1000 has been raised for Cancer Research but also the sports awards which the college Sports’ Council are organising for later this year.

Some incredibly impressive times were recorded and notable runners include Euan Gordon running it 16 minutes 30 seconds which is around the 5 minute per mile mark and William Eeles from year 7 ran the course in under 18 minutes.  All of the 75 runners completed the race during their lunch hour and were all back in classrooms, slightly sweaty and aching ready for lesson 5!
