Parent Support

Students are never too young to be considering their future plans and aspirations. Students who have clear personal goals as well as strong career ambitions are more likely to make progress in school, attain good exam results and secure an appropriate pathway to fulfilling their career ambitions.

Aspirations and career plans may develop and alter significantly between Year 7 and Year 11 however, having an ongoing dialog about possible Higher Education and career choices can improve motivation, enthusiasm, increase aspirations and develop a goal for a lot of students. It is important to take advantage of college and training providers who attend parents evenings, careers fairs and other career events we have in and outside of college.

What can I do as a parent?

It is extremely valuable to have conversations, as a parent, with students about their career plans. Even an informal chat is good however, if you’d like to give them some more useful advice or even want to find out about a particular career, college, university or industry yourself, the links HERE may be useful.
