Emma Scarborough Flying High

Emma’s UKA ranking for 2013, in total she achieved 12. Her hurdle PB of 11.77 is a AA Grade 1 Standard and has her ranked 22nd in the whole of the UK the only ranking which is higher is her Pentathlon ranking of 21st.

The chart below shows Emma successes over the outdoor season. She achieved 63 top 3 places across 11 events.  What is more amazing she gained a UK ranking in all of them!

Emma has had a busy few weeks competing in two pentathlons and two open meeting. On the 24th of August Emma competed in the Tartan Games at Gateshead. On the day she came away with 1st in the 70m Hurdles and 3rd place in the Long Jump.  The following Sunday Emma went to Hexham to compete in her 1st outdoor Pentathlon of the season. Emma came away with a 1st Place Trophy and a new PB of 1966pts giving her a ranking of 21st in the whole of the UK.

Her 2nd Pentathlon was the following week at Jarrow in the North Eastern Counties Athletic Association Pentathlon Championship’s. On the day Emma came away with 3rd place. This now take Emma total of North Eastern Counties Medals to 4. She gained 3rd in the Shot Put and 3rd in the High Jump at the indoor NECAA Championship Feb 2013 and 3rd in the Long Jump in the NECAA outdoor Championships May 2013.

The story does not end there. On Sunday 14th she travelled to Wakefield to compete and came away with a Hat Trick of Medals. 2nd in the long jump, 3rd in the Shot Put and 3rd in the 100m with a new PB 14.28.

On Monday the 16th of September Emma returned to Gateshead for a presentation night.  Emma competed in the Outdoor Grand Prix at Jarrow over 6 meeting from April to August this year.  On the evening Emma was presentation two awards. First was her 2nd Place U13 Girls Grand Prix Trophy and she also received a voucher for the Athlete of meeting for her 70m Hurdle time on the 14th August.  This is awarded to the athlete produces the best performance of the night. Emma was lucky enough to have her trophy and award presentation by local north east GB athlete Richard Kitly who represented GB in the 4x100m relay in Moscow in the World Championship 2013.
