Sports Relief Charity Match
On Friday 23rd of March our Year 10 and Year 11 football teams volunteered to play each other in a Sport Relief charity match. Little did they know that our own Headteacher, Mr Tilling would be the referee. The College Council had the mammoth task of selling tickets which was a huge success – raising well over £500. All students involved, both spectators and players, were a credit to the College. It was a tough fought game which ended in the well accredited Year 10 team beating the Year 11’s 2-1. Goals came from Ryan Malcolm, Jake Jenkins (Year 10) and Bryn Morris (Year 11) High Tunstall’s very own England under 16 Captain.
Spectators all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and there was plenty of cheering from the side-lines.
Let’s Dance Competition
Fun was had raising money for Sport Relief when students from a mixture of year groups and teachers took part in a tightly fought ‘Let’s Dance’ competition on the Nintendo Wii over lunch and period 4. From the 40 competitors the winner was Year 9’s Charlotte Donley – Well done Charlotte!
The famous HTCS charity break time tuck shop.
We raised lots from the tuck shop and smoothies on sale at break time, selling out in just under 11 minutes – a HTCS record!

Sport Relief 10k Run
On a beautiful spring afternoon, over 150 students from all year groups took to the field to push themselves mentally and physically by participating in a 10 kilometer run. Students gathered nervously on the starting line before bursting into action, all with the collective aim of completing 25 laps of the College track in aid of Sports Relief. Some brilliant times were recorded, Ben Ward in Year 11 ran the course in 34 minutes 25 seconds, a new College record. Notable mentions go to Dominic Mincher in Year 8 running an impressive 37 minutes 6 seconds and Becky Newbiggan winning the girl’s race in a time of 42 minutes 55 seconds.
The event raised over £2500 for Sports Relief and all competitors should be proud of their achievements.
